MACMILLAN Cancer Support’s fundraising manager for Middlewich is urging residents to get the kettle on for the charity’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.
So far only nine people in the town have registered to take part so Sarah Page is keen to drum up support for the important event.
She said: “I would like to challenge local residents to put a smile on their mugs and host a coffee morning for Macmillan.
“It is really easy to take part. Once you register you will receive a fundraising pack with everything you need to make your event a success.
“Your coffee morning can be as big or as little as you like.
“Some people host traditional coffee mornings in the community, companies can simply have a collection box next to the kettle and others who fancy organising a coffee morning with a twist even have cocktail parties or liqueur coffee evenings.
“All that matters is you take part and raise money for people affected by cancer.”
Janet Chisholm, who suffered from breast cancer in 2007, held an early coffee morning for Macmillan at Number 28 on September 3.
She added: “The venue was brilliant and was kindly provided free of charge by St Michael’s Church.
“We had brilliant volunteers who worked tirelessly making cups of tea, coffee, and serving the the cakes.
“We had babies, children, young mums and dads, grandparents and great grandparents. The atmosphere was lovely.
