It is a time-tested scheme that has already proved successful in other parts of GCC,” he explained. The group has been offering similar services in the UAE since seven years and recently in Qatar and India. It is a scheme whereby they provide medical services to nearly 2,00,000 cardholders employed by various member companies through their network which consists of 600 medical service providers such as polyclinics, pharmacies and hospitals.
In Oman, Fathima has already formed a network of 130 providers that includes medical centres, pharmacies and hospitals to who can cater to the needs of potential cardholders in the country. The proponents of this scheme say this would be highly beneficial to the corporates and insurance companies as well. “This medical scheme would be highly beneficial to both corporates and insurance companies as they would be able to provide medical coverage to the low and middle income employees at an acceptable rate”. The basic scheme for the cardholders will be limited to Oman while emergency services would be extended to their home countries.
