The Health Ministry yesterday celebrated the opening of the RO 950,000 Al Sawadi Health Centre here under the auspices of Shaikh Abdullah bin Mustahail Shamas, Wali of Barka. The centre, built on an area of 720 square metres, is a qualitative addition to the health services in the Wilayat of Barka.
Dr Saleema al Maamariyah, Director of Health Services Department in the Wilayat of Barka, in a speech affirmed that the health sector is witnessing tangible progress which led to the availability of high-level healthcare for Omani citizens.
She explained that the Northern Al Batinah Region has 20 health institutions — a referral hospital in Rustaq, 4 local hospitals, 3 health complexes and 12 health centres. Two more health centres are being constructed in Rustaq and Al Musanaa.
She added that the newly opened centre, in addition to other three health institutions in the wilayat — Barka Health Complex, Barka Health Centre and Al Naseem Health Centre, contribute in rendering health services.
The centre includes male and female out-patient clinics, woman and child clinic, dental clinic, obstetrics clinic, primary check-up room, treatment and observation room, X-ray services, laboratory and medical registration room. The centre also includes a pharmacy, a store and facilities for patients and staff.
