Baby joy for cancer battle mother

A couple who waited 22 years for a child have hailed the arrival of their baby girl as a “miracle”.

Susan Comiskey, 42, gave birth to Anna Margaret just a year after she survived a 12-month battle against cancer.

She endured two operations and nuclear medicine treatment which made her “radioactive” for a period.

But now Mrs Comiskey and her husband Shane, 55, who are originally from Australia and New Zealand respectively, are delighted to be cradling their first-born child.

The couple now live in Liverpool, and dark-haired Anna was born at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital on October 2.

Mr Comiskey said: “She really is a miracle, She is gift.”

His wife said: “Liverpool has been so good for us.

“We don’t know whether to call her our little Scouse or our English Rose. We feel so overwhelmed and so grateful.”

The couple arrived in the city in June 2007 to become pastors of the Victory Family Centre Church in Eaton Road North, West Derby, Merseyside.

After 22 years of marriage, they were still waiting for the child they dreamed of.
