Badr al Samaa held here recently a continuing medical education programme (CME). The main speakers for the CME were Dr Usman Shabeer Ahmed, who gave a presentation on surgery for diabetes type 2 and Dr Santosh D Lad, Head of Neuro Surgery, Khoula Hospital, who gave a lecture on cervical spondylosis.
The CME programme was chaired by Dr Benny Panakkal, Chief Cardiologist and Medical Director, Badr al Samaa Group. More than 130 doctors from different parts of the region attended the CME.
V T Vinod, Managing Director, Badr al Samaa Group, in his welcome speech talked about the rapid changes happening in the medical field. Dr Shabeer spoke about the surgical treatment for weight loss, and the metabolic surgery which is different from cosmetic surgery like liposuction.
The latest surgical methods described included gastric bypass surgery and gastric banding which reduce the person’s craving for food and reduces food absorption.
