Buckinghamshire Health Bosses Raged over Patient’s Treatment in Toilet

On Friday, in a meeting, it was heard that a hospital is treating its patients in toilet, as the wards are getting over-occupied; raged Buckinghamshire health bosses.

The requirement of taking healthcare to the community and out of acute hospitals has been cited by Sheryl Pope, an NHS strategy Director. But, she has been challenged by various councilors, as with the centralization of clinics, community beds have come to halt.

In the meeting, the Overview & Scrutiny Committee for Public Health Services came to know that an under-utilized gynecology clinic at Buckingham Community Hospital was shifted to Stoke Mandeville and the charge was handed over to Wycombe councillor Wendy Mallen.

Mrs. Pope said, “You’re bringing things into Stoke, but there’s such a lot of congestion there. One person had to be treated in the toilet. I’m wondering how quickly you’re going to change it”. She added that the Buckingham clinic was utilized just about 40%.

The shifting of the gynecology clinic was also ridiculed by Buckingham councillor Hedley Cad, who expressed that it took him and his wife four hours to reach Stoke to get consultation of just 20 minutes.

After a fire threatened patients at the premises, the overnight beds at Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross Hospital have been closed since 2008, as stated by raged Chalfont St Peter councillor, Bruce Allen.
