Cardiac Science Extends Device Connectivity To Allscripts Professional™ Electronic Health Record

Cardiac Science Corporation, a global leader in automated external defibrillator (AED) and diagnostic cardiac monitoring devices that connect to electronic medical record (EMR) and hospital information systems, announced it has completed certification with Allscripts Professional EHR™. This latest certification extends its HeartCentrix cardiology device connectivity solution for its resting ECG, stress, and Holter monitoring products to support Allscripts Professional EHR for small and mid-sized physician groups. Cardiac Science previously completed certification with the Allscripts Enterprise EHR™ for large physician practices.

The connectivity between Cardiac Science’s equipment and the Allscripts EHRs will help physicians streamline the diagnostic cardiology workflow in their offices, eliminate a source of data transcription errors, and provide a unified view of patient diagnostic data. Through the HeartCentrix connectivity solution, physicians will have immediate access to view or edit a patient’s test results electronically and later retrieve the data from the Electronic Health Record.

Dave Marver, Cardiac Science president and chief executive officer, said, “Our connectivity solution with Allscripts Professional EHR reaffirms our commitment to providing seamless connectivity with the industry’s leading EHR solutions.”

Cardiac Science connects to both Allscripts Professional and Enterprise EHR solutions via the company’s open architecture platform. As part of Allscripts ongoing commitment to open not closed systems, Allscripts EHRs are designed to connect to certified device vendors quickly and easily.

“Allscripts continues to lead the industry in creating open, connected systems of health by using our open architecture platform to enable third party applications and medical devices to connect to multiple Allscripts solutions,” said Allscripts Vice President of Solutions Management David Qu. “Sharing of cardiology data with a variety of Allscripts software platforms in diverse clinical settings allows our physicians to make faster, more informed decisions that ultimately result in safer patient care and better health outcomes.”
