Cases of Dengue warns of Global Threat

The number of cases for Dengue has doubled in number, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dengue outbreak proves to be a major issue for global public health. The UN health agency offered warnings against nations where the situation is getting worsened day by day.

Two fifths of the world’s population is supposedly under the risk zone, and the major chunk coming from the Asia Pacific region.

Dengue a grave flu-like disease is caused by mosquitoes, and can develop into dengue haemorrhagic fever, which can prove to be fatal and is spread by aedes aegypti mosquito.

The WHO has offered warnings against the increased number and size of dengue outbreaks in cases of nations such as the Western Pacific region, as well as in regions of previously unaffected areas.

The WHO’s regional director for the Western Pacific, Dr Shin Young-soo, said:”National resources need to be mobilized to sustain dengue prevention and control, and the disease’s profile needs to be raised on the global health agenda to stimulate the interest of international agencies and donors. The fight against this disease is everybody’s problem.”
