Center for Healthcare Planning and Quality Licenses 2,000 Healthcare Professionals at Dubai Healthcare City

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a member of TECOM Investments, today announced the Center for Healthcare Planning and Quality (CPQ), the regulatory body for DHCC healthcare operators and practitioners, has licensed 2,000 healthcare professionals.

The CPQ is responsible for upholding international best practice in healthcare quality and patient care through licensing of healthcare professionals and facilities within DHCC, regulating and enforcing healthcare standards for clinical and alternative medicine practice, conducting assessments of clinical facilities, facilitating access for DHCC-based healthcare providers to continuing medical education, operating a Customer Protection Unit (CPU) that processes patient feedback and complaints, as well as managing and using healthcare informatics to monitor clinical standards and patient satisfaction levels.

Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Executive Director, Dubai Healthcare City, said: “In our ambition to be a centre of excellence for healthcare in the region, it was important to have an independent governance framework that ensures stringent standards in healthcare delivery. This is the core principle behind establishing CPQ.

“Since DHCC’s inception, the CPQ has led the way in a number of areas, from setting up an internationally recognised system for regulating complementary and alternative medicine to conducting primary source verification of physicians.

The process is so thorough that the CPQ is regularly invited to support other healthcare authorities and organisations in their efforts to achieve best practice.

Thus the CPQ has successfully raised the bar for healthcare delivery in DHCC and the region.” Dr Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama, Executive Director of the CPQ, said: “The CPQ is a prime example of demonstrating excellence through our actions.

The high quality of professionals practicing at DHCC and standards of the clinical facilities are a testament to our commitment to put patient care and safety at the heart of healthcare.

“The CPQ is the only body in the region to receive outpatient clinic standards accreditation from the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua). The two hospitals in DHCC – The City Hospital and the specialist American Academy for Cosmetic Surgery Hospital – are accredited by the Joint Commission International – a target set by CPQ for DHCC-based hospitals to achieve within two years.

” With its solid set of fundamentals and regulations for outpatient healthcare facilities and healthcare practitioners, the CPQ aims to consistently strengthen DHCC’s position at the forefront of healthcare excellence.
