Children suffer from poor nutrition

Children between one and 10 years of age comprise 50 percent of all children suffering from poor nutrition in the Kingdom.

This is the startling statistic revealed at a medical forum organized here by the Saudi Pediatrics Association. Participants are from Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and other countries. The delegates concluded that children in this age range are the most vulnerable category.

Addressing the forum, Professor Banni Caresnaire, Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University, spoke about the challenges facing families in feeding their children properly and also outlined various methods used to counter the situation.

He stressed the importance of such forums that allows pediatricians, nurses and families, to become informed by specialists in the field.
