Dubai Health Official Denies Report on Isolation Procedures at Al Baraha Hospital

Dubai, Jan 24th, 2010 (WAM) — Director of the Dubai Medical District Dr Ahmed Al Hashimi affirmed today that the isolation procedures adopted at the Al Baraha Hospital are safe and sound and conform to the well accepted rules in this regard.

He added that it is customary to isolate patients with tuberculosis and AIDS in an isolation ward supervised by the Department of Preventive Medicine.

Al Hashimi denied the validity of a report published by a local newspaper which suggested that the isolation ward for patients with tuberculosis, meningitis and AIDS is an annexure to the hospital’s internal medicine department since the last five years.

Though the isolation ward is located inside the campus of Al Baraha Hospital, it is totally away from the inpatient wards at the hospital, insisted Al Hashimi.
