A Filipina nurse has fled the country after it was discovered that she was working on a forged academic certificate, Madina Police have said. Sources said that when woman found out the deception had been discovered she obtained a travel visa and departed for the Philippines. Security authorities have said they are investigating her place of work, a medical center in Madina, to find out how she obtained the visa.

“The forgery and counterfeit division at Madina Police has registered the nurse’s case and it is still being looked at,” said a police spokesman. The incident comes only two days after an investigation began into two female nurses for suspected forgery

Nurse with fake certificate worked for 15 years

The Ministry of Social Affairs branch in Madina has caught an Indian nurse who had a fake nursing certificate and worked for 15 years at the Ministry’s social care centers in Madina, officials said.

Authorities discovered the male nurse had a certificate from an Indian university that does not teach science or medical subjects, an official source told Okaz/Saudi Gazette.

Officials discovered that the certificate was bogus when the ministry forwarded the nurse’s credentials to the Saudi Council for Health Specialties to attest his certificate, according to a source who said Council authorities asked the Indian consulate to check its authenticity. The consulate replied that the university doesn’t teach scientific or medical subjects.

The Ministry suspended the nurse and referred him for investigation, officials said.
