Abu Dhabi: Residents across the UAE can avail of free cardio checks as part of a new campaign announced by medical service provider NMC Healthcare on Monday.
The campaign will continue for a week at seven hospitals located in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Sharjah, and will aim to raise awareness on cardiovascular diseases. It coincides with World Heart Day, which is commemorated by the World Heart Federation on September 29 in a bid to raise awareness on heart-healthy environments.
NMC Healthcare said in a statement it hopes to offer checks on blood pressure, body mass index, blood glucose and cholesterol levels for about 15,000 people. The screenings will be offered at NMC Specialty Hospital and NMC Day Surgery Centre in Aby Dhabi, as well as NMC Specialty Hospital and NMC Hospital in Dubai’s Deira, Al Nahda and Dubai Investment Park areas.
In Sharjah, residents can get checked at New Medical Centre while in Al Ain, they can approach the NMC Specialty Hospital.
In 2012, NMC Healthcare screened over 6,000 people and around 10,000 people in 2013 and aims to beat these numbers this year by aiming to screen over 15,000 people. The free heart check-ups will be offered from September 22-29 from 3pm to 9pm.
