Health Authority – Abu Dhabi introduces CME/CPD programs for healthcare professionals on TV

Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the regulatory body of the healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, today signed an agreement with Promed TV, a unique TV channel on Nile Sat that specialises in Continuous Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Personal or Professional Development, to make online CME/CPD programs available for healthcare professionals in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Under this agreement, 40 specialties and sub-specialties of healthcare professionals in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi will acquire an accredited CME certificate, approved by HAAD, by watching CME lectures, operations, trainings and workshops on television.

Dr. Noura Al Menhali, Section Head, CME/CPD at HAAD, said: “The new online CME/CPD platform aims to address healthcare professionals’ needs for flexible CME activities and allows them to complete required CME/CPD hours at their convenience and according to their speciality in a relaxed atmosphere. It enriches the CME/CPD market and offers health professionals a new way of gaining CME accredited hours without onsite physical attendance.

Only 20% of HAAD CME minimum requirements will be accepted from the Promed TV channel as category-1 credit hours.

Saeed Raddad, Promed TV Chairman of Board, said: “Distance learning provides a practical answer to the inability of attending lectures and workshops due to the constraint of work schedule. Promed TV provides tailored materials to complement the needs of healthcare professionals providing the first specialized premedical satellite channel in the world with the use of a state-of-the-art mode of visual communication to reach all people in the Middle East and North Africa.” The TV channel provides variety of CME/CPD activities however, Abu Dhabi health professionals will only attend HAAD – CME/CPD accredited events.
