The Cabinet has recently received a draft law from the Ministry of Health concerning the establishment of a Public Authority for General Health. It will be headed by an official who enjoys the rank of a ministry undersecretary. After receiving the draft law, the Cabinet referred it to the legal committee that will submit a report by next month.
The authority will be officially established by February, 2011. Meanwhile, Minister Dr Hilal Al-Sayer intends to nominate an academic working at the Faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University, which cannot be finalized unless an approval is received from the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, the ministry is due to launch its first electronic gate (E-gate) next week in a bid to end the time-consuming administrative routine and avoid shortcomings in medical appointments and medical committees’ work.
According to MOH sources, the project would be launched next week covering the Overseas Medical Treatment Department’s transactions to ensure accuracy. The sources added that the website would help doing the transactions of medical departments to provide full dossiers for patients ever since the moment they get hospitalized.
