Health awareness sessions for public

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is conducting a series of topical sessions to educate the public during the second edition of Qatar Health Congress and Exhibition, at the Doha Exhibition centre.

Many public sessions will be delivered everyday during the week. Health education and guidance is provided on issues including cancer, vision test and eye check-ups, hearing test and early detection of hearing loss and hearing weakness.

The public is educated and more awareness is created thorough the anti-smoking clinic, and chest clinic for examining the pulmonary system, respiration and skin allergy, speech therapy clinic, drawing and photography exhibition, first aid workshops, and plastic surgery clinic.

Free immunisation against both seasonal influenza and H1N1 influenza is also offered to visitors at the congress and exhibition.

“We are pleased that for the first time at Qatar Health, we will offer an innovative series of informative sessions and workshops developed to engage the diverse population in Doha. These sessions are part of our ongoing effort to build education and raise awareness about human health and wellness in Qatar,” said Dr Abdul Wahab Al Musleh, Deputy Medical Director at HMC and Vice Chairman of Qatar Health.

“The broad cross-section of topics and their availability on a daily basis will no doubt attract even more visitors to this year’s event. We hope that people will avail olf the opportunity to learn about subjects that are important for their family and friends,”
he said.

The specialised Critical Care Paramedic Service supporting the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the HMC was also presented at the exhibition centre premises yesterday.

Emergency Medical Services enhanced with a specialised service team of 40 highly trained Critical Care Paramedics (CCPs) with a range of special rapid response vehicles, ambulances and the LifeFlight Aero-Medical Helicopters are responsible for delivering high quality critical care services throughout the country.
