Indian Vijay Kumar was admitted to Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on September 22 by his roommate after complaining of chest pain.
He was reported to the Indian Embassy by social workers as he had no proper identification, including passport or CPR card, and had to be admitted on a temporary CPR number.
But he fled the day after being admitted without taking any advice about medication and how to deal with his condition.
Mr Kumar’s case came to light when Bahrain Prathibha Socio-cultural Association charity and legal member N Govindan visited him in hospital.
“I visited Mr Kumar, from Tamil Nadu, Madras, as per the embassy’s instructions,” he said.
“He told me that he has no relative or friends from his native place. He also told me he came to Bahrain 25 years ago to work for a private company, but had to work elsewhere as it closed after two years when it went bankrupt,” Mr Govindan said.
