Hospital delays probe planned

A committee could soon be set up to probe King Hamad Hospital delays. “There is a need for an auditing panel to study technical and administrative glitches, which have delayed the scheme for a long time, causing costs to increase substantially,” Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said.

“We need to learn lessons to avert any problems resulting from delays or negligence in future projects,” he said during a meeting with a delegation representing the King Hamad University Hospital Friends’ Group, which visited the Busaiteen-based health facility.

“Since the Royal Order, assigning the BDF to be in charge of the hospital was promulgated, technical and administrative problems surfaced, hence the need to review the project,” he said.

Engineering designs, power cables and internal telecommunications network shortcomings will be probed.
