International Nurse’s Day to be Marked in UAE

Abu Dhabi, 7th May 2010 Nurses from the entire region the United Arab Emirates, who save lives and maintain the health of sick and expectant clients, are all geared up to celebrate the International Nurse’s Day on May 12th. This year, The Emirates Nursing Association (ENA) has selected the theme for 2010 as: “NURSES: TOGETHER FOR HEALTHIER LIVES’.

May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession is marked as the International Nurse’s Day.

ENA, through its constituent member associations, advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting in service education and general welfare, promoting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and the regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.

Traditionally, the Day is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which nurses, the largest health care profession, are working to improve health care.

Bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the halls of research institutions, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding health care needs of UAE society.

This year ENA in collaboration with Medscope International FZ LLC, a company located at the Dubai Health care city, specialized in healthcare training and development, will be organizing the event on May 11th 2010 at The Cultural Palace Hall based on the International Theme; “Delivering quality, serving communities: Nurses leading chronic care”.

The Nurse’s Day celebration will include scientific, cultural and educational programs. The scientific program will be awarded with credit hours.

The cultural program will include group dance, group song, and skits. Nurses showcasing their talents.The educational programs like quiz and puzzle.

Nurses who are talented in creative writing will write articles, poetry and make posters on the national theme.
