International Solidarity “WAPA” Lauds Al Baraha Hospital Efforts in Breastfeeding

The Breastfeeding international solidarity “WAPA” lauded the efforts of Al Baraha hospital in the field of breastfeeding and enhancing the meaning of breastfeeding in maternity and childhood clinics.

Al Baraha hospital received an appreciation letter from WAP|A as part of its encouragement to authorities, health facilities and establishments to the importance of natural breastfeeding for infants and preventing powdered milk substitutes. This was stated by Ahmed Obaid Al Khudaim, Director of Al Baraha hospital.

Al Khudaim emphasized that the breastfeeding international solidarity “WAPA” includes several international organizations and authorities that are related to maternity and childhood health and is situated in Penang, Malaysia in collaboration with the World Health Organization “WHO” and UNICEF.

Dr. Samiha Khoory, Head of gynecology and obstetrics department at Al Baraha Hospital and Chair of the breastfeeding committee, indicated that on the occasion of the breastfeeding world week, the hospital will organize a ceremony that includes several awareness lectures and campaigns.

The committee will also organize a breastfeeding awareness campaign for doctors and technicians between 23-26 October 2010 in Al Owais Hall at Al Baraha hospital.

The program includes several lectures and workshops that have been approved by the World Health Organization “WHO” and UNICEF given by several breastfeeding consultants and advisors. Al Baraha hospital has been selected as a child friendly hospital since 2005.
