Tehran – The ground breaking ceremony for construction of IranĖs first specialized hospital for treatment of cancer was held in Shahr-e Rey, in southern Tehran on Sunday.
The ceremony was attended by Ali-Akbar Velayati, an advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on international affairs.
In a speech during the ceremony, Velayati said that pollution and aging are the major and the most inevitable causes of cancer in Iran.
Early diagnosing could increase the likelihood of cancer treatment, Velayati said.
“Early diagnosing, followed by timely treatment, will help the patient person regain his/her health.”
Velayati expressed hope that construction work on the hospital would not take a long time.
