Iran Opens Center for Mass-Production of Optical Bio-Implants

The world’s first center for mass-production of optical bio-implants was officially inaugurated in a ceremony attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here in Tehran on Saturday.

Producing optical bio-implants would be a revolution in Iran’s ophthalmology and bio-implant application as the country would be the first state which has succeeded to start mass production of the device.

Mass production of the optical bio-implants would be a great help in treatment of optical diseases with major advantages including no need for anesthesia during a surgery and having no more local bleeding or other side effects during the treatment period of chronic optical diseases.

The US has recently discovered the technical know-how for producing bio-implants but it has not succeeded yet to start the mass production of the devices.

During the ceremony, Ahmadinejad was accompanied by Tehran Governor-General Morteza Tamaddon and Minister of Industries and Mines Ali Akbar Mehrabian.
