Iran to Set Up Special Medical Centers in Pakistan

Iran announced that it plans to set up three special medical centers in three different provinces of Pakistan to help the flood-hit people of the South Asian country.

The agreement for the construction of medical centers was signed during a meeting in Pakistan between Secretary-General of Iran’s Red Crescent Society Zaher Rostami and his Pakistani counterpart.

The society’s special medical centers will be set up in Sindh, Punjab and Balouchestan provinces for the first time.

Also at the meeting, the two officials also discussed the trend of Iran’s assistance to the flood-stricken people of Pakistan.

Rostami along with a Red Crescent Society team flew to Pakistan last week to assess the exact scale of the damages inflicted on the country.

The team sought to grasp a better understanding of the problems of the people who have lost all their belongings and a number of their beloved ones in the disastrous flooding.

Government and local authorities in the flood-hit areas have already begun reconstruction efforts after water subsided, and the Iranian team is due to help the Pakistani people in this regard.

Iran’s Red Crescent Society had also sent an investigation team to Pakistan on the first days of the flooding more than two months ago to realize the most important needs of the Pakistani people.

Iran was among the first three countries which rushed to Pakistan’s aid after floods devastated large parts of the country. Iran has sent a total volume of 5,300 tons of aids and assistance to Pakistan during the past few months.

Meantime, Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar announced earlier this month that Tehran will continue its humanitarian aids to the flood-hit Pakistani people by dispatching reconstruction materials to the country.
