Iran to Unveil Laboratory Information Management System Software

Iran’s Nanotechnology headquarters is due to unveil its developed Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software concurrent with the third Iran Nanotechnology Festival from October 25 to 29.

The Laboratory Information Management System pertains to a set of software packages which are designed to manage all the required tasks of a laboratory or a relevant laboratory network.

The mentioned software packages are capable of recording test orders, queuing system operating, and providing online tracking options for customers. Other abilities include maintenance and repair management of laboratory equipments and consumed materials storage.

The development of this software started early in 2008 and lasted by this March and the Arabic and English versions of this software are under development.

“The software used before was dropped due to incompatibilities with domestic laboratories criteria. This software is developed by the order and cooperation of the laboratory network. It will soon pass the primary test levels and come to the national and regional software markets as a commercial brand,” Reza Asadifar, manager of INIC’s laboratory network, said.

“Compared to its foreign counterparts, this software is more flexible in such a way that there’s no need to make changes in the program code to define special applications.”

“This software will be assigned to members of the laboratory network through special facilities,” he added.
