ITECS Innovative Consulting is pleased to announce the recent hire of Jo Anne Goodnight to the position of Program Manager. Goodnight brings more than 26 years of experience working with various government agencies, including the National Institutes of Health(NIH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture(USDA), to ITECS’ team of more than 70 expert consultants.

According to the National Science Foundation, the most dramatic change in federal R&D priorities over the past 25 years has been the increase in health-related R&D. In 2008, health-related R&D represented 52% of nondefense R&D.
In her recent tenure as Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program Manager for the NIH, Goodnight played a major role in shaping the NIH SBIR/STTR programs to meet industry needs and accelerate technology innovations by aligning the programs with strategic partnership and investment market opportunities. She was also involved in the development and implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding opportunities through the NIH and has extensive experience in helping researchers and companies identify and secure NIH funding.
In her capacity as SBIR/STTR Program Manager, Goodnight got the opportunity to work with small businesses and developed a deep understanding of how open innovation and technology transfer fuel research and development in the U.S. In addition, she was in the unique position at NIH to be able to work across agencies and developed rare insight into how those various agencies operate.
In her new role, Goodnight will work with ITECS clients to help them identify high-potential technologies and evaluate them against government funding, tech transfer and procurement opportunities.
“I’m excited to be joining the ITECS team,” said Goodnight. “Knowing the current healthcare system in this country isn’t sustainable, insight into how companies can align their new technologies and innovations with the government’s goals to help address current and future challenges is very valuable,” said Goodnight.
