Kuwait played hosts to the first International Hospital Conference which began on Friday. The conference, which was organized by the Universal Company to compare the excellent standards followed by Kuwaiti private hospitals with that of major international hospitals.
The event was held in Movenpick Free Trade Zone and featured the participation of more than 50 hospitals. Local hospitals like the Health Care Clinic and Al-Salam Hospital as well as international hospitals from different countries like Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Turkey, Malaysia and Jordan were present.
It was inaugurated by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Rashed Al-Rashoud along which the CEO of the Universal Company Dr Nasser Al-Enizi. Government bodies such as the Ministry of Defense, Kuwait Oil Company and the Ministry of Health(MoH) are aware of the services rendered by each hospital.
In his inaugural speech, Dr Nasser Al-Enizi stated that the conference was being held to bring all the health care experts, international and local hospitals together, under one roof. This is so that citizens can compare what hospitals are more suitable, while finding necessary specialization.
“The conference also includes a number of local private hospitals along with famous European, international and Arab hospitals to enrich the relations between our local private hospitals, in the fields of training, developing health care services and counseling,” Dr Nasser Al-Enizi added.
One of the biggest hospitals which also participated in the conference was the New York Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell which has over 22,000 inpatient beds, over 90,000 employees, 55,000 faculty physicians and almost 10 million square feet of space.
Senior Vice President of New York Presbyterian, Susan Mascitelli also added the their hospital has opened five branches all over New York so that it is convenient for patients to visit the nearest branch, ” Our comprehensive hospital covers a free standing child’s center, oncology center, a very large digestive disease service line. We take care of neurosurgical problems such as brain tumors and spine problems,” Mascitelli added.
