Kuwait -the new market for Healthcare IT in Middle East

KUNA has reported just two days back that Kuwait health Ministry has set aside Sixty million dinars for the expansion of bed capacity of hospitals in the country. The ministries of health and public labour will also build eight new hospitals at a cost of KD1.2bn, the health ministry said.

So definitely the need for healthcare information technology in these prestigious ventures will rise in the region. It is also a lot easier, cost effective and hassle free to implement healthcare IT solutions in greenfield projects than is hospitals with legacy software. The major issues with the latter being change management, legacy data migration, interfacing issues with older or outdated versions of equipment, diagnostic devices and departmental softwares.

There are number of studies that prove that proper planning of hardware, networking and identifying the information needs right at the beginning or conceptualizing phase helps save substantial costs for the hospitals that can be utilized in a more profitable manner.
