Leading life science free zone, DuBiotech, at PABME 2010

Dubai, UAE – May 24, 2010: The Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech), a major life sciences free zone in the Middle East and a member of TECOM Investments, is participating at the third annual PABME Exhibition and Conference. The event takes place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, UAE, and will continue for its final day tomorrow, Tuesday 25 May, 2010.

Launched in 2005, DuBiotech has the mission to create the biggest life sciences cluster in the Middle East. Its business model is based on providing the best environment for major players in the life sciences industry and research through adopting a sustainable strategy and leveraging the benefits of its location in Dubai, while offering free zone benefits and creating a world class infrastructure.

“Dubai is an extremely attractive location for those Pharma companies that want to establish their headquarters to better grow their commercial operations in the Middle East markets, North Africa and other regions well served by the powerful logistic infrastructures available here,” said Dr Marco Baccanti, Executive Director, DuBiotech.

“The establishment of a sales and marketing hub in Dubai is the first and most common action taken by many pharma companies since the start of DuBiotech free zone, but more recently we are experiencing an interesting evolution. Some companies are planning to increase their commitment and their investments: they are going to establish in Dubai more knowledge and labour intensive operations, such as research projects (clinical trials), logistics operations, even manufacturing and packaging plants.”

PABME 2010 will offer pharmaceutical and biotechnology scientists and practitioners from around the Middle East and the world the opportunity to interact, network and exchange ideas and bring themselves and their organisation to the forefront of the discipline.

PABME is organised by IIR Middle East Life Sciences Division, the creators of Arab Health, and is the region’s only event that is being formatted as a major exhibition with a multi-disciplinary conference running alongside. This will tackle global and regional issues such as, pharmaceutical registration, facilities design, upgrade and expansion, emerging technologies, marketing, clinical trials and current affairs.

“As a strategic partner to the leading international exhibition and conference for this industry in the region, we are confident that PABME 2010 will serve as a crucial platform for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology scientists and practitioners from around the world to share their expertise and showcase the latest technology,” Dr Baccanti commented on DuBiotech’s participation at the event.

“All pharmaceutical companies interested in the Middle East market are present at PABME 2010, so DuBiotech is there to make them aware of the benefits of its free zone, of the strong critical mass of its cluster of 70 life sciences companies already registered, as well as the added value services offered by its role as the central hub of the cluster.”

Exhibition director Terri D’Elia commented on IIR Middle East’s ongoing partnership with the UAE’s leading scientific hubs. “Both DuBiotech and IIR Middle East Life Sciences recognise the direction that the UAE is moving in and are strategically building the type of platform necessary to facilitate countries looking to enter into the MENA region. Developing a relationship with clinical research organisations is helping to make this possible.”

The three-day PABME Exhibition & Conference will continue on Tuesday May 25, from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Trade visitors have unlimited access to the exhibition, and may register their participation any time during the event.
