Leading surgeons discuss latest trends in plastic surgery

The Pan Arab Association Congress of Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Burn Surgery held as part of Qatar Health 2010, saw leading plastic surgeons in the region and Qatar discuss on key issues in the field.

Dr Saeed Al Kaldari, one of Doha’s leading plastic surgery consultants, focused on bruise-less rhinoplasty in his presentation. He has introduced a state-of-the-art technology that guarantees a painless operation for patients and a recovery period of one week after the procedure. Dr Kaldari has performed over 1400 rhinoplasties over the last four years in Qatar with an average of 250 per year. He expects this number to increase in the future.

Dr Saeed Kaldari’s expertise is in Facial Reconstructive Surgery and most commonly procedures performed are Corrective Septo & Rhinoplasty (nasal surgery for breathing and deformity), Blepharoplasty (eye-lid surgery) and Face Lift.

The pan-Arab conference attracted experts from around the world to discuss the latest trends and techniques in the field of plastic surgery. Among lecturers were HMC Plastic Surgery Track Chairman Dr Habib Al Basti, Germany-based International Confederation for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery General Secretary Prof Marita Eisenmann-Klein; Prof Yilin Cao from China; Prof Bishara Atiyeh from Lebanon; Prof Andreas Yiacoumettis from Greece; Prof Sydney Coleman from US; Prof Daniel Marchac from France and Prof Ahmed Noureldin from Egypt.

The growing acceptance of surgical intervention for cosmetic reasons among Arab women and even men has fuelled the rise of plastic surgery clinics in many countries, including Qatar.
