To avoid a possible backlog of visitors, the Medical Commission has decided to partially provide its services to the public during the Eid Al Adha holidays.
The Commission will remain closed on November 16, the first day of Eid Al Adha but will resume functioning on the second day of Eid. The services will be available only in the morning from 7am to 2pm, according to its Director Dr Ibrahim Al Shaar.
The facility will again be closed on November 19 and 20, being the week-end holidays. The official Eid holidays in Qatar starts on November 16 and continue until November 20. The decision has been taken under directives from the Minister of Health HE Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani, who had a first-hand experience of the huge crowding that the Commission experienced after the last Eid Al Fitr holidays.
Following a surprise visit to the facility after the holidays, the Minister asked the Commission staff and officials to find a solution to the problem. He recommended to cut the number of holidays in future and extend the working hours on a regular basis.
“We will be working with adequate staff during the forthcoming holidays. Those who are on duty during the holidays will get compensation,” Al Shaar told The Peninsula yesterday.
