Medics said our healthy babies died

Two mums have told of their ordeal after a hospital said their healthy unborn babies were dead.

Sofia Taylor was in shock this week when staff allegedly advised her to terminate a “failed” pregnancy. Mrs Taylor, 22, of Peacehaven, East Sussex, demanded a second scan and it proved her baby was fine. She said: “If I had listened to them I would have lost my baby.”

And docs told Joanna Barro, 25, of Telscombe Cliffs, East Sussex, they were “100% sure” her baby had died. A week later she was preparing for a procedure to clear her system when a nurse found a heartbeat and Miss Barro went on to give birth to Ruby, now three.

She said: “I didn’t think it was the kind of thing doctors could make a mistake about.”

The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton has apologised for the errors.
