Ministry of Health Receives International Consultants

The Ministry of Health will receive a number of international consultants in different medical fields during this month as part of the “Visiting Consultants Program” which is organized by the Ministry. The program invites international expertise to make medical checkups, surgeries and operations for difficult cases at the ministry’s hospitals in Dubai and the northern emirates.

About four consultants specialized in eye, rheumatism, nephrology, urology and endoscopy will check difficult cases in Al Qassimi, Khorfakkan and Saqr Hospitals in Ras Al Khaimah.

Nasser Al Budoor, Director of External Relations and International Organizations at the Ministry of Health, said: “As instructed by Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim, Minister of Health, the ministry great interest to international doctors pointing out that the program achieved great success since its establishment as it saves, time, effort and money for locals and expatriates in the UAE”.

Al Budoor stated that the ministry aims for benefiting both medical and technical human resources of the ministry’s hospitals and health facilities from these international expertise and getting trained by them.

He also explained that Al Qassimi Hospital will receive Dr. Sprague Esutis, Pediatric and Ophthalmology Consultant in Oschsner Clinic, USA between 9-15 October to check and treat a number of difficult cases.

Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah will host Dr. Arjun Shankar, Endoscopic Pancreaticobitiary Specialist in the University College of London to provide treatment for a number of critical cases at the hospital.

Dr. Christopher Edwards, a Rheumatologist in South Hamilton Hospital in London will treat and check all the difficult cases at Khar Fakkan Hospital between 9-15 October.

At the same time, Professor Joachin Leissner, Urology Specialist at Kocln Clinic in France, will treat bladder operations and varicose veins patients in Al Qassimi Hospital. Professor Joachin is also an expert in cholecystectomy, bladder tumors and transplants, acute prostate cases and urethra facelifts for children and adults.

Al Budoor added that the ministry will host about 20 consultants and surgeons in different majors for the next two months to satisfy the needs of medical districts, hospitals and health centers.

The Ministry issued a circular for the directors of medical districts and hospitals to review the needs of the hospitals from doctors and specialists who would follow critical and difficult cases. The visiting consultants’ program and external relations department at the ministry will make the necessary steps and coordination with these specialists and arrange their visiting schedule for 2011.

“The ministry is also very keen on activating the continuous medical learning and training of both medical and technical doctors in its health facilities for the purpose of improving their skills and benefiting from international expertise and modern information. The staff will also have the opportunities to get acquainted to the latest scientific researches and studies”, he concluded.
