MoH’s corporate fund signs cooperation pact with college of American pathologists

Health Ministry Corporate Fund has signed a cooperation pact with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) to conduct an Accreditation Readiness Assessment Program (CARA) to enhance the Quality of Medical Laboratories in Ministry of Health hospitals and primary healthcare centers.

The agreement was signed by Mohammed Bin Sulayem, Vice Chairman of the Ministry of Health Corporate Fund and Marcia Geotsalitis, Senior Vice President, Laboratory Improvement Programs, CAP.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali Al Qassim, UAE Minister of Health, Dr. Salem al Darmaki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Dr. Nariman Al Mulla, Advisor in the minister’s office and member of the fund’s board of directors.

Dr. Hanif emphasized that societal partnership with the local and international sector aims for providing exquisite healthcare services and ensures the importance of societal responsibilities among all parties. He also lauded all the initiatives that would implement diversified programs and plans in the healthcare field that coincide with the requirements of the modern age.

Mohammed Bin Sulayem said: “This cooperation agreement is an excellent example of the Public and Private sector joining hands with a common goal of improving health outcomes for UAE residents. We welcome the support of CAP in this new initiative and expect positive results for the future.” Sulayem also lauded the efforts of the College of American Pathologists “CAP” in the field of medical research referring to the efforts of the corporate fund in achieving its future strategic goals and objectives.

Furthermore, Marcia Geotsalitis explained that under the agreement, the College of American Pathologists will conduct CAP Accreditation Readiness Assessment (CARA). The readiness assessment is a high-level evaluation of the MOH laboratories and primary Healthcare centers. The assessment is an educational opportunity to facilitate understanding of laboratory readiness and evaluates the critical areas of the laboratory and areas for enhancement in an attempt to set a road map for continuous improvement initiatives.
