The National Reference Laboratory is one of the major components of the United Arab Emirates long-term plans for improving the regions national healthcare. The laboratory is located at the DuBiotech, short for the Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park in Dubai, aimed at attracting biotechnology research and development to the region. DuBiotech (dubiotech.ae) was officially launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai in February 2005, as part of Dubai’s 2010 vision to establish a knowledge-based economy. The Park is currently the world’s first freezone dedicated to the Life Science industry.
LabDAQ Laboratory Information System was selected based on Antek HealthWare’s ability to provide cutting edge technology, an implementation and training team which could meet the timelines of the National Reference Laboratory, and world-class after sales service and support, even though Antek is half a world away from the labs location.
“For Antek HealthWare, this is not our first international installation, however it is our largest,” states Antek HealthWare’s President Jim Milligan. “As word of LabDAQ’s ease of use and scalability spreads, Antek has been approached to meet the needs of a variety of laboratories, not only in the US, but around the world.”
Antek HealthWare, LLC (antekhealthware.com) headquartered outside Baltimore, MD is dedicated to the development of advanced software products designed to facilitate the practice of medicine.
