The two-day Oman Food Safety Conference, the first such forum in the Sultanate to increase awareness and provide industry experts with a forum to discuss challenges and issues facing the food industry, will begin on October 25 at the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Hotel.
It will be presided over by Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim al Rowas, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.
Announcing this at a press conference, Saleh al Zadjali from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said: “Such a conference is an exceptional opportunity for the government and the industry to congregate and discuss requirements while increasing awareness of the regulations.
“We are delighted to support such an initiative and are looking forward to sharing the latest updates on the local food safety industry and at the same time learn from experts around the region who will shed light on safeguarding consumer health in relation to various aspects of the food products we consume daily”.
The conference, being organised by Oman Trade Exhibitions (OITE), will focus on food safety regulations and challenges in Oman; technological advancement in food safety; promoting and building food safety; food safety in meat, dairy, fish and poultry products; food borne illnesses: challenges, concerns and emergency response plans; international standards and best practices in food safety; the latest trends, tools and technologies; nutrition and food safety and more.
The conference is held in association with the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Muscat Municipality and the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates.
