In collaboration with the College of Medicine and Health Sciences of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Oman Respiratory Society held its 2nd National COPD Symposium on World Spirometry Day recently.
It was held under the auspices of Dr Abdullah Mohammed al Futaisi, Executive President of Oman Medical Specialty Board. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive lung disease that makes it hard to breathe.
In his welcome address, Dr Hussein al Kindi, President of Oman Respiratory Society, mentioned that the first National COPD symposium was held in 2005.
Since then, there has been exponential growth in knowledge in this field with the introduction of new therapeutic agents and treatment modalities which lead the society to organise the present event. The symposium was attended by more than 400 delegates from all over the Sultanate.
