Patients complain of long wait in hospital

Patients at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah have complained about the alleged chaos in receiving patients at the emergency section as well as the “unclear” procedure in receiving, sorting and evaluating health conditions.

The confusion, they said, led to the crowding of patients and delay in their wait that extends to more than 12 hours even for critical cases. One patient, Khaled Al-Zahrani, said he took his cancer-stricken father to the hospital’s emergency section but there was nobody to attend to his case until after 12 hours of waiting.

“My father remained on the stretcher all through this period. There were several other cases of patients suffering in pain throughout the hours they waited.”

Muhammad Al-Ghamdi complained of similar situation. “I arrived at the hospital in a bad condition, but a male nurse only placed an oxygen mask on my mouth nd nose. When I asked him when I could be examined, he replied: “There is no vacant place now.””

Ridha Mufti said he brought his father, who is suffering from kidney and urinary bladder pain, to the King Faisal Specialist Hospital at 4 PM last Sunday and was able to leave the hospital at 12 midnight Tuesday.

Baraka Ghazwani, a kidney-failure patient, said she was forced to wait for eight hours before the emergency section attended to her case.
