Programme teaches students first aid

An annual Dubai Police programme aimed at school children teaches them a variety of methods in dealing with dangerous situations.

“We have an annual training in all government schools and selected private schools that teach children basic first aid practices such as treating superficial wounds,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Al Dabal, Director of the International training services at the General Department for Community Service at Dubai Police.

“We also provide our training programmes for schools of children with special needs and senior homes.”

The department uses various tools to teach children and adults how to deal with dangerous situations such as burns, fire drills and superficial wounds. Some of the tools used, include speeches, galleries, and demonstrations.

“The training is basic; we don’t provide specialised training in CPR. We have different programmes for children from the age of six to 18, but most of these programmes are basic.

We teach the student how to basically protect himself or herself from dangerous situations. We don’t provide CPR licenses or specialised programs, just the basic methods in how to deal with dangerous situations,” said Lieutenant Colonel Al Dabal.
