Qatar Pre-marital tests from December 23

qatar-hospital27th November 2009 The Peninsula DOHA: Qatar would introduce the long-awaited mandatory pre-marital tests from December 23, a senior official of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has said.

The Minister of Health and Secretary General of SCH HE Dr Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani issued a ministerial decision on Wednesday organising the procedures for the check up.

The Qatar News Agency has quoted Dr Ahmed Kamal Naji, Director of the Medical Commission, as saying that the tests would be introduced from December 23, in line with the Ministerial decision. The tests will be made compulsory for all men and women – nationals and residents – getting married in Qatar.

Expats told to check RPs before travel

DOHA: Expatriates and their families leaving for other GCC countries to spend Eid Al Adha holidays should check their residence permits (RPs) before making reservations for air travel. Their RP should be valid for at least three months. A number of expatriates travelling to some GCC destinations during the current festive season — some with their families — had to return form the airport as their RPs were found valid for less than three months
