The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) on Tuesday launched a new magazine on nutrition named “Thimar Al Sihah” in collaboration with the Arab Center for Nutrition (ACN) and a local company Al Dar.
Assistant Secretary General for Administrative Affairs at SCH Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Khalifi launched the magazine in a ceremony at SCH that was attended by Assistant Secretary General for Policy Affairs of SCH Dr Falih Mohammad Husain and officials of ACN and Al Dar.
The goal of this magazine is to enhance health awareness in Qatari society by educating them about foods that cause obesity. The magazine will encourage people to have physical exercise and eat healthy food.
Director of Communication and Media of SCH Jassim Ibrahim Fakhroo, said: “This magazine will serve as a connecting link between the SCH and society. Our prime concern is to protect the people by educating them about health.”
The first edition of the magazine has covered several topics like obesity in GCC and its connection with chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure, obesity among schoolchildren and teenagers and how to prevent obesity.
