Annually, KLAS interacts with nearly 5,000 hospitals and 3,000 ambulatory organizations. Its results and rankings are based on a series of surveys it conducts with hospital and clinic executives, administrators, physicians, nurses, and other directors and managers with business responsibilities regarding the experiences they are having with their vendors and products. NOVIUS Lab received the highest ranking (83.11) of the top seven laboratory systems evaluated for the KLAS report. Of NOVIUS Lab users surveyed by KLAS, 92% said they would buy the solution again.
Siemens’ NOVIUS Lab enables laboratories to remain competitive by offering an open-ended architecture framework, where orders can be entered from multiple inpatient and outpatient facilities faster and more accurately than in non-automated environments. NOVIUS Lab works with Patient Identification Check, Siemens technology for applying the accuracy of barcode scanning, to help make sure blood specimens and blood products for transfusion are correctly identified with the right patient and clinician involved.
Laboratories can configure the customizable rules of NOVIUS Lab to their own specifications to better manage their workflow, ultimately helping to enhance productivity. And, the laboratory information system easily manages sample transport and receipt among all institutions within an Integrated Delivery Network – a critical step for patient safety and specimen accuracy. All of this helps labs reduce costs, improve customer service, improve outcomes, and enhance efficiencies.
“NOVIUS Lab has been very well received in the market, and because this award is based on end user feedback, it carries special significance for us,” said Janet Dillione, CEO, Health Services, Siemens Healthcare. “The system can also play a key role in our customers’ specimen collection workflow and related patient safety strategies, and we are hopeful that this recognition two years running helps us continue to expand penetration of our comprehensive point of care solutions portfolio.”
Siemens was also recognized in the 2009 end-of-year KLAS report for its Pharmacy solution, which earned the top spot as the Pharmacy Category Leader for community hospitals. Siemens Pharmacy is designed to help streamline pharmacy workflow, enabling customers to automate, track, and support quality assurance for the medication use process. According to KLAS, this recognition signifies leadership in working with customers to resolve issues and match expectations to reality.
