SKMC marks World Kidney Day on Friday

As part of their ongoing commitment to support and raise awareness regarding kidney disease prevention, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) managed by Cleveland Clinic are celebrating the “World Kidney Day” from 6 – 11 March 2011 in a joint initiative with Emirates Medical Association – Nephrology.

To mark the 5th annual “World Kidney Day” celebrated at SKMC, the Renal Program team of SKMC is organizing several activities and check-up stations at the hospital as well as daily symposiums targeted to the physicians and nurses.

Moreover, check-up stations will also be set-up at the Family Park, Khalidiyah, in Abu Dhabi for the public on Friday, 11 March 2011.

On this occasion, Dr. Tej Maini, CEO of SKMC stated that, “Our objective in participating annually in the World Kidney Day is to promote the importance of early diagnosis of chronic kidney diseases and getting the right treatment.

SKMC is committed to apply the best medical practices and to educate not only the patients but also the community on disease control and prevention.” Carl Stanifer, CEO of Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) praised the efforts of SKMC and affirmed, “The success of the Nephrology Program at SKMC is a source of great pride for SEHA and SKMC.

It is evidence of our commitment to the continual improvement of healthcare delivery services in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. The continued success of the program is yet another significant step forward towards a healthcare system comparable to the best in the world.
