Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), managed by Cleveland Clinic, inaugurated today the 3rd Abu Dhabi Wound Care Conference in Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi.
The focus of the conference was to promote wound care awareness and education on how to develop effective wound care programs and bring to the fore, wound care leaders and champions who can lead the adoption of effective policies and diabetic foot prevention programs for the benefit of all who specialize in wound care treatment. SKMC is part of the SEHA HealthSystem and is owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA), which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The number of healthcare professionals who attended the conference exceeded 500 from the Middle East and other international organizations. The conference was accredited for seven hours of Continuous Medical Education (CME); and has included presentations on many aspects of Wound Care applications and procedures to provide a combined and diversified CME experience.
The objective of the conference was to promote a multi-professional approach to wound management and highlight the highest standards of wound management through education.
The discussion topics at the conference included wound care education, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcer, lower limb ulcers, wound related pain, acute traumatic wounds, endovascular treatment of diabetic feet and the most recent advanced technologies in wound care. Moreover, the wound care status in Kuwait, Qatar, South Africa and UAE was presented. Details about Abu Dhabi’s SKMC Diabetic Foot Prevention program and its Wound Care team were highlighted.
