Special swine flu vaccination at health exhibition

In an effort to provide swine flu vaccination to delegates and visitors during Qatar Health 2010, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is holding a special swine flu educational and vaccination campaign during Qatar Health, 2010. A special vaccination booth has been set up inside the exhibition centre, which can be reached easily by delegates and visitors.

The vaccination booth is managed by nurses from HMC’s medicine department who have been trained to offer medical advice regarding swine flu and the need for vaccination in particular during the winter months.

“We are pleased, for the first time ever, to be able to provide swine flu vaccination during Qatar Health. It is a novel idea put forward and implemented by Dr Abdulatif Al Khal, Chairman of Medicine Department at Hamad General Hospital.

The aim of the vaccination campaign this year is not only to get as many delegates and visitors vaccinated against swine flu, but also to make people aware that the risk of H1N1 Swine Flu is still present in the society and that we should take adequate care and preventive measures against it,” said Aida Ahmed Abdulla Hassan, Staff Nurse, HGH.

With scores of visitors approaching the swine flu vaccination booth during the first day of Qatar Health 2010, the campaign has been successful in educating the people about getting themselves vaccinated. According to the nurses stationed at the vaccination booth, there has been keen interest shown by youngsters, many of whom had not been previously vaccinated against swine flu.

“We also inform the visitors that there are no side effects with Swine Flu vaccination. Everyone, including pregnant women, can get themselves vaccinated against swine flu, which is more active during this time of the year,” said Alma Catherine C Sia, Staff Nurse at HGH.

The organisers of Qatar Health, 2010, have decided to make the campaign against swine flu a yearly feature during the annual health Congress, which is aimed at preventing the spread of swine flu and educating the visitors about its prevention.
