SR1.6b medical city for Dammam

The construction of a SR1.6 billion specialist medical city on a plot of land donated by Saudi Aramco on Abu Hadriah Road in the Eastern Province has been approved by Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health.

The city will be named after King Abdul Aziz (may Allah shower His mercy on him).
Dr. Khalid Al-Shaibani, Executive Director of King Fahd Specialist Hospital, said the city’s feasibility study had identified that the region needs various medical specializations.

He said the hospital will have between 1,000 and 1,500 beds and includes medical teaching colleges to be run by government universities or private universities in the region.

He said the city has been designed to include a hotel for patients and facilities for bone marrow transplants.
