The Sultanate will join other countries in marking the World Diabetes Day which falls on November 14.
Dr Noor bint Badr al Busaidiya, Chairperson of Oman Diabetes Association (ODA), explained that the Sultanate will join other countries of the world in marking this day by organising a ceremony at Al Sahwa Park in Seeb.
The ceremony will include checking blood sugar and blood pressure, a clinic, eye test lectures about diabetes, a charity market and activities for kids.
The ODA will explain the objectives and activities of the World Diabetes Day during a press conference.
She affirmed the keenness of the association in spreading awareness on diabetes to assist them in dealing with the disease through the best scientific ways and helping them prevent its dangerous complications. — ONA
Our staff reporter adds: The Beat Diabetes Walkathon under the auspices of the Ministry of Health will be held on November 12 at 7 am from Centre Point, Ruwi.
The registration is free and is now open across Oman, and the forms can be filled at any of the Center Point, Home Centre, Max and Emax outlets. The registered participants will be given T-shirts and caps at the venue before joining the 2.1-km Beat Diabetes Walkathon.
The participants can also get free blood sugar test at the venue. In 2011, the campaign will move to Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan, taking the total to nine participating countries for the third edition.
