Dr. Eve-Lynn Nelson has a joint appointment as Assistant Director at Kansas University Center for Telemedicine & Telehealth and as Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She began at KUMC after completion of a psychology internship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and graduation from the clinical psychology program at the University of Kansas in 2002.Her research has focused on health services delivery using telemedicine, particularly telemental health. She has served as PI and evaluator on several federal and foundation grants including a randomized trial of childhood depression treatment over televideo, an evaluation of provider-patient communication using telemedicine, and studies of team-based telemedicine clinics for ADHD, youth depression, and autism. Most recently she is PI on two HRSA grants integrating distance education and telemedicine services for geriatric populations and for pediatric epilepsy. She is a frequent speaker concerning telemental health and has particular interest in telemental health outcome, practice using technology, and policy implications. She serves as co-chair for the American Telemedicine Association committee publishing telemental health guidelines in 2009 and recently completed NIH training related to cross systems research.
Dr. Nelson has several telemental health clinics, including a multidisciplinary training clinic related to treating children with depression over telemedicine. The clinic provides telemedicine service across urban and rural Kansas schools and clinics and has recently added Community Health Center participation to reach underserved Kansans. She also teaches a grant-supported online depression course for trainees across the health professions as well as several graduate psychology courses. |
