The Dubai Gynaecology and Fertility Centre signs an agreement with City Hospital

Agreement is the first-of-its-kind agreement between the private sector and the government sector in terms of sharing medical resources

Dubai, 7 March 2010: The Dubai Gynaecology and Fertility Centre signed an agreement recently with the City Hospital to share medical resources in order to provide patients high standard of healthcare services.

The agreement is aimed to further improve the quality of gynaecologic care that patients receive in the Emirate of Dubai.

Mr. Khalid Al-Shaikh Mubarak, CEO of Shared Support Services at the DHA signed the agreement with Dr Tarek Fathey, Hospital Director, The City Hospital, on Thursday marking the first -of -its -kind public private partnership in the Emirate of Dubai.

Mr. Khalid Al-Shaikh Mubarak, CEO of Shared Support Services at the DHA said, “At the DHA, it is our constant endeavour to further improve the quality of health and healthcare services in the Emirate of Dubai. We consider the private sector to be our key stakeholder and this agreement is a reflection of the relationship we share with the private sector whereby we are willing and keen to work with them in order to provide patients with utmost level of quality healthcare.”

 

Dr Mohammad Al Olama, CEO of Hospital Services Sector at the DHA said, “The agreement is the first-of-its-kind agreement between the government and the public sector especially since it entails sharing medical resources.  The contract enables specialists from the Dubai Gynaecology and Fertility Centre to use the resources of the City Hospital to conduct surgeries.”

Furthermore the contract also enables the two bodies to share knowledge and technical know-how about procedures related to gynaecologic care, said Dr Ibtesam Ibrahim Bastaki, Director of Business Development & Projects Department within the Hospital Services Sector at the DHA said.

 

Dr Bastaki highlighted that City Hospital was chosen on the basis of the high quality of services the hospital is equipped with, the proximity of the hospital to the centre and the fact that it is licensed by the same body as the DGFC. “All these parameters were looked into to ensure we provide our patients the best possible services taking into consideration their comfort and ease. Both facilities are licensed by the DHCC and are located within the Dubai Health Care City (DHCC), thus the proximity of the two centres will ensure that patient’s are not inconvenienced.”

Dr. Awatif Al Bahar, Medical Director of the Dubai Gynaecology and Fertility Centre said, “Our centre specialises in gynaecology care and we have experts in this field working with us. This agreement now provides us the opportunity to extend the services we provide our patients as we shall be able to conduct surgeries for our patients who need them.”

Speaking about the signing of the agreement, Dr. Tarek Fathey, Hospital Director, The City Hospital said: “The City Hospital is consistently at the forefront of delivering quality and excellence in patient care and today it marks another milestone in its endeavours towards collaborative partnerships.
