Michael Lenarduzzi, CEO of The Wave, Muscat, accepted the award for Best International Architecture which was announced at a glittering ceremony held in San Diego, California this week.
At this year’s CNBC International Property Awards, an independent panel of 52 judges considered entries from 207 countries and The Wave, Muscat competed against 29 award-winning finalists from Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and The Americas.
The Wave, Muscat is leading the way for modern Arabian architecture, setting new standards for quality, design, construction and finish.
Granted its status by Royal Decree, it is the first project in the Sultanate of Oman to offer freehold status to all purchasers.
It is also the region’s first major integrated resort and residential development, incorporating more than 4,000 new homes, a marina, golf course, three premier hotels and new retail, leisure and dining opportunities.
The world-class architects – Triad Oman Consultants International, Meletitiki (Alexandros N Tombazis) and ER International (Carlo Santini) – have successfully translated traditional Omani designs and way of life into a modern, practical and enlightening master plan for a new village community. Villas, townhouses and apartments are set in carefully landscaped grounds featuring wide tree-lined boulevards, green parks and inland pools and waterways filled with gently moving seawater. Planting has been carried out with water conservation in mind.
The new marina will energise the area, attracting motorboats and the type of yachts that, until now, have rarely been seen in Oman. The 18-hole green links-style golf course – designed by Greg Norman – and its golf academy, indoor practice nets, gym, spa, treatment facilities, pool bar and tennis courts will prove a great attraction for tourists and residents alike.
More than 900 new homes have already been completed at The Wave, Muscat, the construction of the marina is progressing and work is about to start on the golf course.
The Wave, Muscat is a joint venture between the Omani Government, Omani Pension Fund and Majid Al Futtaim Investments.
