Trauma management conference on Monday

A four-day medical conference on trauma management begins in Al Ain today, providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and knowledge concerning trauma management and critical care, as well as strategies for prevention.

Jointly organised by Tawam Hospital and Al Ain Hospital, in collaboration with the Trauma Management Group at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine at UAE University, the Second International Conference on Trauma Management, Critical Care and Prevention will be held at the Danat Hotel and Resort in the oasis city, with the world’s leading trauma healthcare professionals in attendance.

Announcing the conference on Sunday, Professor Frank Branicki, Chair of Surgery at Tawam Hospital and head of the conference’s scientific committee, said continuous efforts are on to improve trauma treatment in the UAE.

Over the last seven years some 1,300 doctors, along with nurses and ambulance personnel, have been trained all over the country. The need for improvement, however, always exists, he added.

Dr Saeed Abu Hasna of Tawam Hospital, who is the chairman of the conference, said: “This event will appeal particularly to emergency and critical care physicians, radiologists, surgeons, nursing staff, pre-hospital staff, as well as epidemiologists in the UAE and region.”

He said the event will be interactive and discursive, and participants will have the opportunity to attend numerous workshops, presentations and lectures on a variety of issues.
